Jesus is clearly God, and the context of John proves this. He is also referred to as 'the God' (ho theos) in Titus 2:13—a title only used for the supreme God. The Jews wanted to stone him for claiming to be the eternal God in John 8:58 where he used the predicateless 'I AM.'
