A mind boggling thing happened today. I've been reading Joseph Campbell's Occidental Mythology recently. Part of what I read that particularly resonated with me was a section about the early mythological significance of the serpent as a symbol of rebirth, and thus immortality and other related things. As I was driving off I got an impulse to go to a pet supply store I passed. I went in and looked around. They had a fairly large reptile display. I went up to the display and looked around. At the top were the snakes. First thing I did was walk up to the snake display near the center, and as I did I was thinking about the mythological significance of snakes, and I had an unusual state of mind. I was feeling a deep sense of joy and wonder (this was a little strange since I had been dealing with frustration of a car where every time I fixed it something else would go wrong). The snake in the display had been coiled under a log. As I came into this state of mind, it came out looking at me, uncoiled, and moved to the glass with his/her head looking at me. It began to undulate its body in the air as if it was dancing while the face started at me, with the face projecting a bit forward and almost touching the glass. The undulation made it reminiscent of a snake in a caduceus.
I have been around snakes and other reptiles a lot, and my brother and sister have owned a number of them, and I have never seen a snake behave in that way. It was very wonderful. It seemed very much like the snake was reacting to my state of mind, since it had been idle until I appeared, and then became unusually interested in me. It did not exhibit any typical traits of a defensive posture or an aggressive posture, it was something else, though I don't know what.
So do you think I was somehow connecting with the snake on a spiritual/whatever level when I was contemplating it as something much more profound than a potential pet reptile, or was it just a coincidence that it exhibited a totally unexpected and very atypical behavior?

I read your beautiful story first thing in the morning and instantly felt I know the answer. Although, I couldn't put it in the words right away. I got quiet thinking about it, knowing that explanation in a form of words will come soon.
The day is over and I got back to your experience again. I read it over a few more times. Familiar to everyone feeling of Love, Joy and Truth overwhelmed me and words followed. Please bear with me, here is what I believe happened to you, Nemo.
Your experience was a spiritual one, no doubt. Someone very close to you who has passed on, (when and who is irrelevant) was making contact with you using a body of a snake.
According to my Knowledge, we are Absolute Perfections ( or some call it, "PureLoves", "Unconsciousnesses", "Spirits", "Souls", "Heavens", "Creators", "Gods" etc.) and after we apart with our bodies we have unlimited access to exercise our powers.
Very briefly about Absolute Perfection.
Absolute Perfection is immortal, focused, intelligent, perpetually changing, the most powerful energy in the every existing Universe of the Infinity capable of traveling in time an between Universes with the speed of thought, capable of transforming into and coexisting with any living material form in order to move the Time forward, Evolve and make History, in order to Experience; capable of creating new planets, world, Universes in order to open them for other Absolutes.
Nemo, you are in the process of an intensive search for the Truth and you are getting closer. An Idea of Mortality is not natural to you, you can not agree with it and no wonder Why, deeply withing you, you have this Knowledge that you are an Infinite. You are going through a very difficult period in your life and Someone who Loves you, from your past, Absolute Perfection with full capabilities to exercise his/her powers, felt your stress about certain issues in your Earth Life and decided to help you by giving you a Sign of Love, settling a great sense of Joy and Hope in your Heart.
You, as an Absolute Perfection, got connected with your Beloved One from the Outside World and you had this urge to read Joseph Cambell"s book. Your Beloved One was pulling you toward it and You responded. That is why you felt "particularly resonated" reading a section about a Serpent as a Symbol of Rebirth.
Next thing you know, you found yourself staying in a Pet supply store looking at snakes, experiencing " a deep sense of joy and wonder". It seemed to you very much like the the snake was reacting to your "unusual state of mind" becoming strangely interested in you.
At this point the contact between You and Beloved One has taken place. As you noticed the snake "did not exhibit any typical traits of a defensive or an aggressive posture, it was something else, though, I don't know what", you said.
Absolute Perfection, your Beloved One has transformed in the body of the Snake in order to expose His/Herself physically, to let you look into Her/His eyes, in order to give you sense of Love, Happiness and Joy in spite of difficulties of every day Life; in order to help You to realize something that you had been thinking so much lately, something that, perhaps bothered you putting Fear and Uncertainty in your Heart. "AP" was communicating with You, Nemo, bringing you up closer to solve the questions of Life and Death, helping you to understand better the concept of Immortality.

There is no coincidences in Life. People intuitively know it saying, " every thing what happens, it happens for the reason". I am sure every nation of the Earth has a similar expression. However, how many of Us believe what We say? How many of Us saying "Love" actually know the meaning of this word and How many of Us believe in it and actually act on It?
Power of "AP" which you were experiencing through the contact with the snake was not a coincidence, it was a Necessary Intervention in your Life. It was Love, Wisdom and Strength making their way into Your Body. It was a message of a Great Hope carrying Purpose of Life, giving you a new meaning, bringing you closer to the Absolute Happiness, to a new discovery of Yourself as an Immortal Being, as Absolute Perfection.
You were able to Notice the Significance of the Event because You are ready to live, not to exist, because you opened your heart for Love and your Mind for Knowledge, because you are a good person, Nemo. You, soon, will see positive changes as a result of all of it, as a result of your hard work.
