Lost Christianity

A lot of what is referred to in life or on line as Christianity is I beleve really only Christendom or man made Christianity. I thank Kirkegaard for that word. I wouldn't have the respect for Christianity that I do if I associated it with Christendom.

Prof Jacob Needleman is one highly regarded writer that I believe truly understands Christianity and far more than I do. For those interested in getting an inkling of the depth of Christianity, I suggest his book "Lost Christianity" You can probably get a link to it from his website: http://jacobneedleman.com/

Reading it together with his book "A Sense of the Cosmos" will open doors of understanding.

Dr. Needleman has helped me to appreciate the depth of this remark:

Quote:
"The extreme greatness of Christianity lies in the fact that it does not seek a supernatural remedy for suffering, but a supernatural use for it." -- Simone Weil

As another book club suggestion, a newly-acquired friend of mine introduced the Unrantia book to me. While I'm prepared to take a lot of this over-2000-page-tome with a big grain of salt, it does seem very interesting.

Here is a wiki article on the book, including some criticisms:

Here is a link that will get you to the full text of the book:

The Urantia Book at amazon.com (for about $14).
