I have to agree that the book has a powerful message in simple plain language. I am experiencing life on a deeper level. I am much more aware. My relationships are deeper and more peaceful. I am kinder to people. Tolle has given us tools for peace. I also have had several aha moments. I have to say I feel more connected to everyone and everything.
Some have not read the book because they think it conflicts with their religion. I can only say I think the book would enhance your religious experience whatever the religion is. I think some think the message of the book is shallow because the language is plain and simple. In my opinion one does not have to coin new phrases and be constantly sending people to the dictionary in order to get a very powerful message across. Some think if you don't have a difficult time understanding it it must not be worth reading. I would say that a difficult book speaks to the mind. Tolle speaks to something much deeper in us. I have been attending a study group on this book for almost 4 months. It is so interesting to watch the different reactions to the book. Many have been studying Tolle for years and really get it. Many are working very hard at it. Some people just aren't ready for it. I think one's ego has to be ready for the book. One thing I have noticed is that people expect too much from themselves. They are trying to eliminate the pain and negative feelings. I think the message is to just be aware and don't label or judge.
