When at school,(15) I was awarded a trophy and had to go on stage to collect it in front of the whole school !....as I climbed the stairs my belt buckle broke!!...well...down came those trousers !!....the whole school were in hysterics.....all I could do was laugh too and turn as red as a tomato. I still collected my trophy though !!.....I was embarrassed but the cheers and applause more than made up for it.

I mentioned this at my mother’s retirement dinner but when I was talking about how cool it was to have a mother who worked in the school in the cafeteria as a cook I also mentioned its drawbacks. The cool part was that every Friday when they had ice cream my Mom would stand in the window and hold up an ice cream and I would run in the kitchen to accept it but when I got in trouble, I did not have the luxury of waiting till I got home to receive my punishment. One time in 4th grade, I cheated on a math exam and the teacher caught me and well, all he had to do was march me downstairs to the cafeteria and in front of the teachers and students told everyone I cheated.

Since the flood gates are open there is one other embarrassing moment.

All through my growing years, my Aunt Annie would come over our house and while she would visit, she always had a habit of snooping through cupboards and cookie jars and help herself to whatever she wanted. I always thought this was rude and it was never the way my mother brought me up. My mother didn’t seem to mind but I always had trouble with it. In my early teenager years I figured it was payback time. I never quite remembered how I knew their basement door was unlocked but every week when no one was home, I would sneak into my Aunt’s and Uncle’s house and literally eat them out of their snacks and cookies. After all, I did have all those years to make up. One day after an uneventful haul, I exited the front door and my Aunt pulls in the driveway and I stood there holding a sleeve of Ritz crackers. Quickly thinking, I put the sleeve under an empty Maxwell House Coffee can laying on the porch next to me but it was no use, my Aunt uncovered the can and my plan. She took me to my mother’s house and I confessed that I only took snacks and nothing else but I never told my Aunt why I did it but I did tell my mother years later. It upset me because my Aunt told me she kept on blaming her daughter Linda for eating all those things

When I was about 15 I wore some black spandex pants to school under a long tunic. Ok the spandex is embarrassing enough but it was the 80's so it was like totally in! Flips hair.
Anyways my pants split. I went into the bathroom to sew them back up. The teacher had given me the dullest seizors on the planet! I couldn't cut a soft piece of cheese with it! So I was in the bathroom and had dropped the seizors in the stall. Some stupid girls reported to the principal that I was trying to kill myself! So they all swooped into the bathroom. Forced me to come out. And there I was, ripped black pants on with my bright zebra panties on! I was so traumatized I have always color coordinated my bottoms to my undies...just in case.
