I'm not sure if it is a descernment between "good" and "evil", but a knowing of what is helpful, beneficial, or in other words "positive" and what is not. This is innate in all living things, and is necessary for survival. I don't believe "goodness" is inherent because one of the first things babies learn to do is lie. I believe "good" and "evil" are concepts that are taught to children by society. But that is just my opinion.
