I'm holding my breath because at this moment...it's working !!..for the first time in ages !!....the last thing I did was delete yahoo messenger and also the now discontinued Sygate Firewall !!.....
I have to go away for a little while and then I'll come back and let you know how things are. The fact that I've got this far is down to you wonderful peeps...so ..big virtual hugs to you all....

I'm glad to hear it is working for you, Neil! I'd personally recommend the free firewall from ZoneLabs called Zone Alarm. If you do install it, once it is installed, click the Firewall tab on the side, and set both controls to medium. If they are set too high, they might cause probs, but setting them too low doesn't protect your system.

Thanks Rev. Rex, I don't really do firewall stuff where I work, just the virus and spyware. The person who REALLY knows something does all the other stuff.... I put systems together (love it!) so I'm more of a mechanical grunt.

WORD and the Clipboard
WHY oh why oh why does WORD empty the clipboard when ever you start WORD up ?
Often, I copy things (for pasting) and forget that when I go to open WORD that it empties the clipboard.....why is this ? It's fine if Word is already open . Is it just me that this happens to ?...try it...let me know.....thank you.

Actually, Word should *not* erase the contents of the clipboard. If you copy some text (like from this post), THEN open WordPad and try doing an edit/paste, does the text transfer?
IF it does, try opening Word, then immediately try going to Edit/Paste. What happens?
