DeistPrincess is on a distinguished road
Butterfly Christian Deist : anyone out here sharing the same faith?

I'm a Christian Deist and I see God more like some kind of energy, the primal source, the unexplainable "thing" which was there at the very very beginning. I don't really share that idea of deists thinking that God created us and left us behind. He didn't creat the universe, he IS the universe, he didn't leave us behind because we're still here, God is everything around us, we, humans, animals , plants all work in harmony and we're all part of a whole, the whole is God.

I call myself a christian deist, not because i believe in that god who punishes everyone and everything who/which disobeys because following this logic it would mean that all the animals, uncapable of knowing what God is , will all burn in hell, i don't think that makes much sense...

I was raised in a catholic family and i one day felt the need to read the bible, the second testament, that's what i did, and i find Jesus' teachings inspiring, they really changed me. I personally believe that Jesus was a deist, at least according to what i've read it makes me think so. He used very much metaphors so i think that everything he said was not meant to be taken litterally. Like when he says that he's the son of God, God has no son and God is not a father since he is no man nor woman, but it was a way of saying that He (jesus) was very close to God, and when he says that He and God are One, he means to say that he is in harmony with everyone and everything, with everything around him, with All That Is - God.
So we can all reach that state of spiritual awareness by following his teachings.

I'm not catholic because i never read the old testament so i don't know enough of this religion to convert and i can't beleive that God would ever go kill and punish unbelievers or anyone who behaves 'the wrong way" because God is not a being sitting on a cloud up there. He can only express himself through nature and all natural laws of the universe since he is the universe. Like if someone kills one of your friends, if you're a catholic guy you'll pray to God so that the murderer gets arrested. When the police will find him and send him to jail, you'll say "That is God's punishment", well it is natural that when you kill someone you go to jail, so catholics will say it is God, others will say it is a natural law, well both are right!

When you pray, you don't talk with the man on the cloud in heaven, you talk to yourself and force yourself to find answers on your own questions, that is why your prayers work only when you believe in God, because when you believe in your prayers, you believe so much that he (God) will answer your questions that you unconsciously yourself find an answer on that question after thinking so much about it. and of course you will thank God after that. It is like lucky charms, if you believe that your nicklace (for exemple) will make your wishes come true and wish to find 50 cent on the floor, you will unconsciously expect to find the 50 cent, you will look around you and will find one. But if you don't believe that your nicklace can make your wishes come true and wish to find 50 cent just for fun, you won't expect it to work, so you won't care and pass by the coin without seeing it laying there on the floor while it has always been there in both cases. It is all about how strong your faith is.

I call myself Christian, because i pray and follow Jesus' teachings (follow the Christ = Christian), but also Deist because i don't believe in the punishing god who sends you to hell.

All the religions actually teach the same thing, to love each other, to live in harmony with each other, to be one with God. So any religion which teaches that killing, harming, beating or going at war with each other is a solution is not a true religion for me. There are very much people of other religions who claim that they're religious and believers and stuff like that, but they actually blindly follow the teachings of their Holy book. Like i ask some catholics/ muslims/ jews/... "why do you do that?" and they answer " because my holy book says so" or " because God says so"...i don't think that's a valid answer. Deism per definition (IMO) is, following the purpose of rules in religion, instead of following the rules only without searching for the truth.

Here is a great site which defines my religion exactly word per word :
APurposeToLifeCover

EDIT : And here's an interesting video i just found explaining things about reality and what we are :

YouTube - Illusion and Reality 2012 Part 1 of 2

So, i was just wondering: is there anyone sharing the same faith ?
If not, what kind of deist are you?

Peace be upon ya'll

Welcome to the forum. I've been enjoying your posts and it's great to have you here;

We have a few deists here on the forum. It sounds like you've done a lot of seeking and I can identify with your conclusions.

I agree with your thoughts

God is LOVE

Its that simple

Hell is to believe we are seperate from God - which is impossible
Therefore in truth there is no Hell.

Follow your heart

When you awaken you will see there is only LOVE

Thats the unity the oneness and the completion

Of course Jesus speaks of not being God because God is the creator and we are his created
That said we are looked upin as his equals - Love doesnt look down on anything does it That wouldnt be LOVE

You may find ACIM intersting given what you have written

It tells another story about the message of Jesus - quite different to Religions ideas

I would say that I'm my own version of Deist but I agree with your beliefs.
