Causal Stage, Deep Sleep State, and Intuitive Reasoning

Workshop 49

Causal Stage, Deep Sleep State, and Intuitive Reasoning

Intuitive Reasoning results in an interplay of a wave of Hyper-consciousness with the Causal Essence parameter of being. Although represented as one general interaction, Intuitive Reasoning is also composed of several sub-layers of interactions continually building off the successes of the previous stages. The defining general characteristics of Intuitive Reasoning are wisdom and virtue. Manifestations associated with Intuitive Reasoning are generally termed as insights and the study devoted to these types of manifestations is generally termed gnosis.

In IP, causal represents the general stage of being where Spirit most closely recognizes itself. It has more knowledge than ignorance; more power than force. The Causal Stage of Being produces an energy field which is the causal essence of all manifestation which in turn is the unity of all such expressions. Because this essence has its commonality in “Spirit-as-Soul”, the mystical apprehension of such is often known as Deity Mysticism. It is generally described as an identity with all of creation. The separation between Self and Deity is very slight at this point and so Deity becomes the only perceived “other”. Deity will often take on the manifestation of the Self’s previous conceptions of such. Christians may see Christ, Buddhists may see Buddha, New Agers may see angels, rationalists may see Einstein. Some may experience “the void” as Deity, but the point is there is still a slight perception of “other” and not true non-duality.

When Intuitive Reasoning occurs, the realization of such is known as the Deep Sleep State. This use of the term will be a bit confusing at first, so realize the term Deep Sleep State is not necessarily the same as when human beings say “they are asleep”. Deep Sleep State refers to the state of awareness when your brain produces what are known as Delta Waves. This occurs naturally while we are in deep sleep (non-REM sleep). The difference is whether or not the Self is aware of that state. An awareness of the formlessness that is the Deep Sleep State is the causal essence of the other two. In the E-Wave “movement”, the Causal Stage descends to the Subtle Stage which descends to the Pranic Stage and the rebounds as the T-Wave via the Waking State into the Dream State and finally the Deep Sleep State.

We repeat this pattern throughout our lives. We are fast asleep and at one with the Deep Sleep State which will eventually descend into the Dream State and finally descend into the Waking State. At this point we go about our day believing this to be the most concrete and “real” state of being. We then go to sleep and rise into the Dream State which then rises into the Deep Sleep State where our true essence is refreshed so that it can ride the waves again. This may be a bit confusing, so let’s try this explanation again.

The Self as formlessness in the Deep Sleep State is the most unadulterated expression of Self. It is pure Witness to everything created and uncreated. The uncreated would be this formlessness. Creation then becomes the Dream of the Witness as it begins to manifest mental apprehensions. This Witness + Mind has no (or very little) Waking State interactions to incorporate so this combination of Witness and Mind are what we call dreams. As the wave pushes us towards the Waking State, this Witness/Mind begins to interpret the Waking interactions as form which will give us Witness/Mind/Body. Sustaining this creation, however, requires a great amount of effort and the Self must have an opportunity to recharge its power in the Causal Stage. We experience this drain as tiredness. As we lie down to sleep, our Waking State form dissolves into our mental Dream State. The Dream State mind will then dissolve back into the causal Deep Sleep State.

In this scenario, one can see that everything we might term as divine or otherworldly or God is not some powerful other. It is in fact the Self continually creating and uncreating its creation. It is simply what you are aware of as it arises to you. But there, indeed, is the rub. How can we be aware of the Deep Sleep State? How can one recall formlessness? That is the transrational wall Integral Panendeism hopes to help you not only see but also scale. Most people are only aware of their Witness/Mind/Body state. Some are aware of their Witness/Mind State in a phenomenon known as Lucid Dreaming. The Witness is always already present but it is obscured by the mental and physical interactions. This is why in most forms of meditation, the practice involves stilling the body and quieting the mind so that all that is left is the Witness and your awareness of that.
