I think it is a very bad idea, and it is leading us down a very dangerous path.
But I don’t see how we can prevent it from happening. Reproduction is one of the basic human rights, and to allow a government to start making laws restricting what people can do with their own bodies is just as dangerous, if not more so.

I'm not convinced it will do any harm to allow people to choose the sex of their children.

No. I can't think of a situation where that would come into play. (Share if you have one.) Nature should not be tampered with, but I guess it's a little late for that philosophy.
On a smaller but similar note I was watching like 20/20 last night and people are giving their children hormone shots to make them grow taller. How sick and vain is that? I know the parents are doing these treatments out of good intentions thinking that if it helps the kids grow taller, they'll have more confidence, and be happier. But that's not how to win more confidence. This girl that was on the show, I'm guessing, has some self-esteem and confidence issues but making her taller isn't going to help. It's on the same level of parents forcing their children to diet because they're not a certain size. How vain and horrific is America becoming when our children's health comes second to looking the prettiest, being popular, and winning. What are we teaching them? Like I said, it's probably the work of best intentions, but I believe there are some horrible repercussions that come out of giving your child a shot every day to make them an inch or two taller. I was disgusted.

I don't think there should be a choice, for if presented with one when I was pregnant with my eldest child, I would have opted for a son.
I even cried when she turned out to be a girl... but I recovered! And now I have a brilliant and beautiful daughter that I wouldn't trade for all the boys in the world. ![]()
