Sure. I firmly believe that we are in the beginning of the new era, that of spiritual enlightenment, and that won't happen without resistance and without "clearing the air", so to speak. But all that said, I'm not sure that the hurricanes, earthquakes, and so on, are necessarily anything more than natural.
I say this because hurricanes function on a cycle, and that has been shown by meterologists. We are coming into a cycle of very bad hurricanes, after being through the part of the cycle for the last few decades where they were relatively mild. Likewise with earthquakes, all the major earthquakes we've seen over the last year have been in places where catestrophic earthquakes have been recorded many times before. Also, we have to remember that in the past 20 years or so, science has advanced to the point where it has never been before, where we can detect earthquakes that couldn't have even been detected before. Still, if it changes the mind set of people to the point where they would be more open to the changes that must happen, that isn't necessarily a bad thing. |

Anything is possible, but I see no reason that this would be the case. And to be honest it just doesn’t feel right to me. I hope that we will soon enter a time of greater love and compassion, but how many people need to die (be cleared?
) to bring about this new positive energy?

Your point is very valid. Too many deaths would disrupt the balance that needs to be maintained, making it actually harder for the new era to work. So just from the standpoint of the deaths, this wouldn't make much sense. |

I also agree with Bea that there seems to be no reason for a "clearing" as such. I don't buy into the end times panic. So, I think it is all just chance and combinations of weather events that happen to be close together.

i believe that these occurances are meant to bring us closer together to show our true colors. We are told to love our neighbor and to care for the widow, the orphan, the poor, and the stranger who dwells among you. These events have truely given us a chance to live these Mitzvot, i just hope we can step up to the challenge.
