MANY things. Society often prevents us from growing by imposing belief systems that are not necessarily productive. The way we are taught as we grow up often prevents us from growing, at least until we get rid of much of that teaching...we are sometimes afraid to be ourselves. We often impose our own obstacles, which prevent us from growing. We sometimes have misconceptions that must be overcome before we can grow. And a closed mind is probably the biggest preventer of growth.
