What is the a difference between hope and faith?

Well, Hope's real name is Kelly and Faith's real name is really Faith. Enough American TV humor.

To me, hope is the desire/wanting for something to happen and/or be true. Faith, however, is the belief that it will happen or be true. A fine line, but one deals with uncertainty, the other confidence.

Hope is wishful thinking. Faith is hopeful thinking.

Faith automatically stops individuals from proving understanding for themselves. Faith is another way of saying "you will just have to take my word for it," which is contrary to belief and detrimental to understanding.

Hoping is also like waiting. When you hope for something, you are probably waiting for an action to happen.
Hope is a disturbing distraction to reality. One who truly understands, knows; one who truly doesn’t understand, hopes.

I would say hope is a condition per moment, while faith is the condition as the long term form - lived in and out over moments, days, years and a lifetime.
