First of all, what is being called a "debate?"
Unless it's just me, I don't see much of a difference between "debate" threads and "discussion" threads. Someone asks a question and we discuss and debate it. Except as a discussion, there's no rules nor agreements for how the discourse goes. In the debate area, there are clear suggestions that both parties can agree to if desired. If the debate forum were an area with actual (formal) debating occurring, I'd say keep it on the main page. But since I'm one who was suspended / banned over my "tone" in a discussion / debate, I believe a subforum ought to be created for those of us who can tolerate a tone that might offend a newer member from desiring to join us and participate in such heated discussions. If nothing else, I say we have a formal debate in the debate area about this very question. |
