She's "one of us"? Now, I won't argue that she's done quite a bit to help people. I do believe she has. And I remember seeing shows where troubled kids call in, and she's asked them to stay on the phone, and there's no doubt in my mind, that she's helped quite a few people.
However, I don't think she's "one of us", nor do I think SHE thinks, she's one of us. I have heard many many many stories from many many many sources that say differently. Stories of her screaming at wait staffs, going off on her employees, having her assistant explain to flight attendants that they are never to address Oprah directly, that they must go through the assistant. This after the flight attendant dared to ask Oprah if she'd like a drink.
And let's not forget the incident in Paris, where Oprah tried to get into a store while it was closing. For anyone who works in retail, you know that typically, the last 15 minutes before closing, no new customers are allowed into the store. The people inside the store are usually asked at that time to please bring their final purchases up to the register.
Apparantly, that's not appropriate for Oprah. She did not like being turned away. Made a huge case out of it. Called the president of the company and complained. Which resulted in all the employees needing to go to sensitivity training. Please.
In addition, she discussed it several times on her show, and even made the president of the company appear on her show where she trashed him and his store, and made him apologize again in person. Then commented on how she is NOT a diva.
Please. Get a clue Oprah.
