What do you think of him and his philosophies? Has his show been getting a little like Jerry Springer, lately ? Is Dr. Phil the Guru he thinks he is?

I think he is one of the most annoying people in the world. I feel he isn't an ounce of the guru he thinks he is.

Personally, I think he's an ass.

For starters, he's come out with a diet book. Sorry, but he doesn't look like an expert on diet advice. But, I'm sure he's made a small fortune on it, as his followers will probably buy anything he puts out.

I also think it's extremely immoral for him to put people on his show, to berade them, and point out to the entire world, how horrible these people are. He's had quite a few specials just bashing families, the parents, the children, etc., and questioned the parents on how they raise their children.

Now, while he may be correct in many of these cases, how much better is he, to use that, and point out to the entire world, private issues of this family? He causes MUCH more harm than good. But hey, as long as he makes a few bucks in the process, I guess that's all he cares about.

I was a fan before his show... I don't watch anymore though. A good throw-down on Springer is a lot more interesting!

Dr. Phil sucks canal water.

He's a legend in his own mind.

But isn't that what people want thses days? Pablum? Simplistic, simple-minded solutions to everything? Got a headache? Take this pill. Got a stomach ache? Take this pill. Got a severe psychological disturbance? Take this pill and read this book. We live in a TV culture, where a murder can be committed, the crime solved, a suspect arrested, a triaL held and a sentence rendered, all in an hour (minus time for commercials). We can go to the store and buy a complete meal that is ready to eat after 3 minutes in the microwave. No wonder we're such suckers for easy fixes to personal problems.

I went to the bookstore the other day. I asked the clerk where the self-help section was. She said she could show me, but that would defeat the purpose.
