Daddy the fish killer

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA, has begun a campaign to scare children into becoming vegetarians.

The group, which formed to stop animal testing of consumer products but made its name by attacking women in fur coats with fake blood, is producing comic books that portray fathers as homicidal maniacs.

The handout, titled "Your Daddy Kills Animals," features a grinning lunatic gutting a fish, and warns kids to keep their puppies and kittens away from Dad because he's "hooked on killing."

I think they are going too far. While I agree with their fundamental ideas, I think the way they go about defending their ideas are often rediculus.

I think that approach is way over the top. I was a vegan vegetarian for five year and wish I could still be. But that campaign is sick.

The people I admire are the ones that find baby seals and put spots of harmless ink or paint on their fur, so they will be of no value to fur hunters.

I agree with the concluding statement of the article:

"Critics insist alienating children from their parents isn't in anyone's best interests — human or animal."

This campaign may well backfire on PETA.

In the long run I think there are some solid economic/health reasons people might become more vegetarian in the future but tactics that would divide families are counter productive.

It kind of looks like Peta’s version of chick tracks. Stupid, offensive, ignorant, possibly traumatizing to young children, and most importantly - completely ineffective.

Though i'm (usually) vegetarian, i think that this is disgraceful.

Anything which divides families is totally wrong - in my carefully considered opinion.

so everyone agrees that what Peta has done is not proper or useful - anyone want to comment about the Meatrix link above?
