Is Christmas a problem for you?
If you are not Christian, does the mass celebration and display of Christmas pose a concern or problem for you? Do you feel put upon? Do you feel pressure? Do you feel that your beliefs are usurped?

While I am no longer Christian I still celebrate Christmas. I love the trees, decorations, songs, etc. etc. But most of all I love the spirit of kindness that Christmas evokes. I simply choose to see this as a celebration of the season and don't take any offence at the Christian part of it.

Uh Yeah! Family connections feel not participating in Christmas as a part of family disunity. When we try to reciprocate when our Faith endorses gift giving we get a certain numbing silence. Work places have similar overtones. A few people in either case make some attempt at consideration of differences, some don't pay attention, and a few are quite cold to the whole issue. Simply doing our own thing isn't all there is to consider - extended family, society, the role of children in society and family in particular....

As a Taoist, I feel absolutely no problem with a tradition that is built upon happiness. Why would I? I feel bad for those of other traditions who have negative feelings towards it. So what if it's christian, or pagan. Modern day Christmas is less about christ than I am a christian, so why worry about celebrating it?

Unforunately, you just have to look at store advertising and television adverts to realise that Christmas is about taking your money. I see it as a way to celebrate a season of goodwill with my fellow humans. I'm sorry to say that I see very very little religious attributes to Christmas. Certainly there is love at Christams and I almost find it hypocritical that for the majority this is the one and only time that so called pious people do in fact go to church. It's a well know fact that Churches are more packed this time of year (well...here in the Uk anyway) My family background is not christian and we have always celebrated Christmas but not for the true meaning. I am not offended in the slightest by the people who celebrate it the traditional way. When you think about it....what is the ratio between mentions of Santa Claus Vs Jesus at Christmas ?

i personally have no problem w/ it at all.
i find that the majority of Jews who get in a tissy about the whole Christmas thing are those who have lost their connection to Torah Judaism and are jewish only in this sense of the occasional Bar/Bat mitzvah attendance, giving to the JCC and Yom Kippor and Rosh HaShannah. i mean, really, do you ever see Black Hat Chasidim or orthodox jews getting upset about christmas trees? No, why, because they study Torah, have roots in it and know that we have just a powerful a holiday at this time, Chanukah, which those jews who get upset about Christmas know almost nothing about. Their problem is they don't really know enough about their own faith to be comfortable in it. so...Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah and Happy Kwannza Santa1
