We hear people asking what the evidence is for the existence of God? What is the absolute evidence for the non-existence of God?

I don't know that there is any, but I hate the "prove the negative" type challenges. It just makes me cringe especially since the Bush Administration used this type of argument to justify invasion.

BA: Saddam has to prove he doesn't have WMD.

Saddam: We don't have any.

BA: That's not good enough, you have to prove you don't have any.

How does one prove the negative? In my estimation it is always incumbent on the party making the positive claim to prove or evidence their contention. That doesn't mean the other party is right, I just don't like the prove the negative scenarioes.

The existence of evil makes a mockery of the biblical god. Some atheists take this to mean god does not exist, where I am happy to accept that that god doesn't exist, the possibility of other gods remains open, however unwarranted, unevidence, or cognitively meaningless.

I've seen a comment like this - "The God you don't beleive in, I don't beleive in." It was between a theist and an aetheist. The point is that what aetheists don't believe is probably correct but that isn't what that theist was presenting, if it was the position of others.
