It's Easier To Ask Forgiveness

I heard this today.

Quote:
It's easier to ask forgiveness than it is to ask permission.

Do you agree?

It's definitely easier to ask forgiveness than permission. But consider this: Don't we usually go ahead and do without permission what we knew we shouldn't have done in the first place, and then ask forgiveness?

I suspect that again, it depends on the situation and the person. But consequences can be far more severe than most people have taken the time to consider. Consider that many people who are on the 'sex offender lists' used this style of thinking, and 20 years ago, they probably would have gotten away with it. But times change, and the consequences are heavy (unless you are a woman, and even then, sometimes.)

I think that, unfortunately, it is true that it is easier to ask forgiveness than permission. However, as Rex said, it depends on the person and situation. I am guessing that a stronger person might actually ask permission....maybe a braver person? You have to have the strength to admit that what you want/need to do is something that someone might mind.
