I would think that an enlightened person, no matter who they are, would be MORE sensitive to negative feelings. Meaning that they would be more aware that they are there, especially if you believe in balance, for every high there is a low. So it makes sense that the DL has those feelings.

I'd say that was a reasonable statement. Most anger outbursts and tantrums occur because the person isn't aware of the negative thoughts and emotions and how they are building, so they are allowed to escalate and feed on themselves until an explosion is natural. Having negative thoughts is just human. Letting them rule our actions doesn't have to be. |

I need my negative feelings.
I need my pain. I can still be enlightened but without my ability to see negativity I may lose the control of keeping myself in check.

I think as we become more enlightened, all feelings become more important, even the negative ones. If there were no negative feelings or experiences, how could we fully accept and appreciate the postive ones? I once read in some of my training that that was one of the lessons in loss, to more fully appreciate the memories and relationships gone. The Dalai Lama, being a human, would certainly have the full range of human emotions.

That is so right Laura. How on Earth could we acknowledge positivity if there was no negativity ? We wouldn't be able to recognise it.
