Theists in an Atheist Society

In an overheard discussion a statement was made that if our society consisted of 95% atheists and 5% theists, the theists would be treated like the athesists are treated now, they would be shunned.

Will a 95% society ever occur? If it did how do you think society would change? Do you think theists treat atheists any worse than atheists treat theists?

I don't think that this much of a majority of atheists would ever occur, but the statement is supposing that atheists are shunned. They aren't. In fact, many laws have been changed, including some that are silly and that inflame theists, just because a very few of the atheists are bent out of shape. In other words, the 95% is being inconvenienced in order to make a portion of the 5% happy. My experience has been that most theists are more tolerant of atheists than the other way around, though there are a few who go overboard. But those few do not represent the majority.
