What to make of the Cult of Celebrity

A rather interesting critique of the fawning, over-blown, hyperbole-ridden writing that is, increasingly, passed off as journalism in this link.

I rather wonder, are people beginning to turn against the Cult of Celebrity? Or is that just too much to hope?

Any thoughts.

I see celebrities as a very vital tool in spreading a message to the masses.

In a medtaion I had my uncle, who died in a car accident appeared to me. My uncle was a millionaire with a huge buisness. I was happy to see him and asked him how he was. He said fine, but busy. I had a hard time putting heaven and busy together, but then he told me that he was on a commity that decided where wealth needed to be channeled for the good of all mankind.

I see that some have a passion in attaining fame, some wealth and some wisdom. None of it is "bad" and all "groups" actually serve a purpose. Now if we could get all three groups to work together, we, as the world would be able stop the suffering in this world.

For example Oprah, she has the fame and works together with the others to educate the world on spiritual things (the secret) and funded a public charity that raised over 25 billion dollars to help the needy:

I don't think that we will ever get over being "star struck" We are trained by the media to see celebreties as better and more beautiful than us. We are supposed to see them as the "gifted ones" Like little demi gods. I think that we will always be facinated by those that are portrayed as better than us.

Now, well they have gotten worser and worser. Some of the things they do is just too disgusting and tiresome really to have to watch...
