A refelection on Death

I read this today:

Quote:
The living give us crowds. The dead give us communities.

Is this a true statement, in your opinion?

From what I have seen, we bury people where we intend to remain and put down roots; if you are in a place, but have no desire to be part of that community, then you take the dead back "home" (wherever that may be) to bury them . And, in a land of immigrants, one of the things I find bothers the older people the most, is that they have left the graves of their friends and family behind.

Any other thoughts about this?

And, what does one make of San Francisco, a city where it is illegal to bury your dead??
illegal to bury your dead

I understand this statement as those that are alive have a connection to God and see god alone as their source of Life.

Many do community services because they want to be seen by others. They thrive on the satisfaction of being recognized as "good" by others. But you are not closer to God because you are doing that. You are also not more spiritual because you are doing that. You also do not receive any "rewards" from God for doing that. The rewards are your personal satisfaction.

Also many feel that communities give them support, but in order to find freedom from suffering one must find support within one Self or one will always be depended on the opinion of others.

Just one more point:
Even though communities seem to be union with others, grouping is still excluding the world.

In the face of God each one of us stands alone.

Not sure how one jumps from the idea of of communities to this.

But what does that have to do with cemeteries, or with cemeteries being banned in certain communities?
