One - or two - questions...

I'd like to ask those who seem to have a problem accepting that some people actually know what they have experienced one - or possibly two - question(s).

The first question is:
Have you ever - when you're asleep - had a dream?

The second (possible) question is:
If you answered "Yes" to the first question, how do you know that you had a dream?
After all, "you" were unconscious at the time.

If you are unconscious, nothing should be able to impinge upon your memory, memory only works - in theory - via consciousness.... it is a memory of what you yourself experienced - and when dreaming, "you" are not present.

When we are dreaming, we are not totally unconscious, but dreams that we have when we are in a very deep sleep normally we cannot recall. We are far more apt to remember dreams just before we wake when our sleep is more shallow.

Let me give you an example. Let's say you're sound asleep and the phone rings. If you were totally unconscious, you'd not hear the phone because you'll not be able to process extraneous stimuli. However, when we sleep our brains are in a "sleep mode", much like our computer-- there's activity, but it's minimal.

Shalom,
Vern

That's a great question, aged hippy. I seems we can generate images (we can "see" things) in our dreams as well as in hallucinations and visions. Very, very interesting, I'd say!

I personally believe when we dream we are in a state of pure connection with the universal mind..it can be like a deep meditative state. I believe it to be a different layer of consciuosness, so to speak.

I usually incorporate the phone into my dream.
