What would you pay for a cat?

Yahoo! Shopping - Compare Prices, Compare Products, Read Reviews and Merchant Ratings

I was floored by the cost of this cat. I think all animals need a home, but not at that price. I can't afford it.

Holy cow!! They have to be kidding!!

I like cats okay but I sure wouldn't pay anything like that for one. Around our area you can get a cat free any time you want one, so I probably wouldn't ever pay for one, if I were to ever get one, which I'm not likely to do. Our son is alergic to them so I wouldn't have one around because then he couldn't come home to visit if and when he wants.

And they thought Spitzer was blowing a wad of cash on his call girl!!! At least she is a human. I guess it's all a matter of perspective.

I can actually see someone paying big bucks for a "designer" cat, and if I had access to a ludicrous amount of money I might be briefly tempted.

But then I'd probably come to my senses, buy a year's worth of cat litter for every shelter in town, and adopt another moggie out of the back alley.

Emphasis on the word 'probably'.

Geez..............

And I thought paying $300 for our kitten (ragdoll breed) was bad enough. Of course, I can see where the breeder's time and energy have to be compensated.

Maybe it's just REALLY REALLY hard to get a domestic cat to hook up with a wild one, huh? A little intimidating, perhaps.....

Breeding them is probably expensive and in addition I bet most of them do not come out with the desired mix of specific traits.

I worry a bit for cats like this. Trophy wives are tragic. I am wondering if some of these pets are also treated as trophies and not always given the love they deserve.

The only cats I've ever had have either been free or, with my current little guy, the child of a stray cat my girlfriend and I found behind a grocery store in town. The best things in life are free, and these cats have been so wonderful I can't imagine ever paying a dime for such love.

And whoa, man! That kitty costs just a little less than we still owe on our mortgage!

The other issue is that there are so many animals in the shelters that they are being put to death, and people are buying these animals just because they are popular, not because they actually want companionship.

Tasmanian-Tabby for sale!

Yea I saw the article about the "designer cats" for twenty thousand smackeroonies... of course these are hybrids mix of exotic cats and domesticated tabbies...

I've never paid for my cats... We used to go to the market and they had cats there to watch the rats..and usually there would be a liter and we'd choose the cat we wanted...

Our last cat was from the pound on death's row! She has been a fantastic pet with her own personality and made a home with us. Occasionally she will do what I call a Tasmanian devil spin and she will wail like a banshee.. but I love her anyway when she gets through. I suppose I could put her on EBay as a hybrid of cat and Tasmanian devil and ask for a starting bid of fifty thousand... What do ya think?
