Snowman1 Wifey wants one of these !!

Wifey wants one of these because she is allergic to cat hair....they're so cute !!..look at those ears !!...trouble is...they're about £500...(almost $1000)...and I know I'll have to buy two !!.......anybody got experience with these Sphynx cats ?

By the way...we are cat lovers and ex-owners..(exchanged pets for four children instead !!).just never had a bald cat before...apparently they feel like a hot suede water bottle and need bathing once a week (cripes...and there I was thinking my once a month shower was over doing it ! )

It looks like a cat that is undergoing chemo.

But if your wife is allergic to cat hair, this makes sense, especially since your both cat lovers. Good luck !!!

That reminds me of the Friends episode where Rachel had to have the hairless cat.

Did you see that one ?

Also investigate Siberian cats. They have fur (lots of it!), but there's something unusual in their body chemistry and they don't trigger the usual allergic reaction. My niece is allergic to cat dander and does fine with a Siberian.

Another choice would be the Balinese. They are extremely smart and dog like. Although they have long hair, they, too, are very low in allergins for some reason. I have always been a dog man. My wife and son love cats, but my son is allergic to cats (it figures, eh?). So, we haven't had cats for many years.

However, my wfe and son lobbied, asking why I didn't want a cat, and if I did get a cat, what qualities should it have. To make a long story short, I have actually visited breeders, picked one, and will be picking up two female balis mid to late October (litter arrived Aug 11).

That said, I was also very attracted to the hairless and the Siberian! Great choices all, IMHO. --Steve--
