Tulip Would You Want To Live To 100?

Would you want to live to 100? If so, why? What would you be willing to give up to be able to live to 100?

Yes please ?..are you able to make this happen Mam ?

Actually, I think I could quite happily wish to live a lot lot longer......I think if we can arrange to stop the ageing process now and maintain all my (lack of) mental facilities then I'd be delighted to live for ..well..a really really long time.

What would I give up ?...how about the last ten years ?

I once heard a comedian say that why would anyone want to give up smoking or drinking so that they could live an extra ten years ?..after all...it's the last ten years of your life that you probably wouldn't want to live anyway...

I'd be quite happy to live to 100 and still be in full function of all my facilities.

I don't, however, want immortality. I think that would only drive a human insane. The human body was *designed* to stop after a certain average of time.

That's interesting about the "design" of the body, because some people think aging is a disease that can be cured. However, that would mean that all flora and fauna have the same disease.

I've never understood the idea that ageing is a 'disease'. Humans are naturally very good at ageing.

From a philosophical POV, everything in the Universe is impermanent and in constant flux, except Nirvana/God. *Nothing* ever stays the same. This includes the human body. It completely replaces every cell every 7 years and changes and metamorphosises so much due to food, environment, genetics etc.

I suspect that those that think that ageing is a 'disease' are, in actual fact, very afraid of ageing because the next inevitable step from that is dying.

I agree...if ageing was a disease then we'd all be Peter Pan and never grow up !!

YAYYYYYY !!!....

I'd like to be able to perhaps be immortal but also have the facility to turn the light off if I felt I just could not cope. But, of course from an evolution point of view immortality is a big no no !!...and until we could venture out into space then the world would become crowded even more so very very quickly !

Já, 100 is okay with me.

The genetics are essentially in place, primarily from the paternal side (grandmother, 103; grandfather, 95). Not planning to do anything special, other than keep busy with life.
