Most have a set menu for the month of 12 different entrees. Each month they have a new menu selection.
You make an appointment, to make 6 or more dinners, the full size entrees feed 4 - 6 people. You go there and assemble the meals, they have everything you need to make the meals, set up at stations. They do all the cutting, chopping, have the right spices, and correct measuring utensils, etc. You go from station to station, and assemble the meals, which go into either, plastic ziplock bags or metal containers, depending on the recipes. Then you take them home and freeze them. Each comes labeled with directions for heating and suggetions for side dishes, etc. The literature claims a busy mother can save 30 hours a month, as you cut down on the shopping, cutting, cleaning, etc. To prepare 6 meals takes about 1 hour and 12 can be done in 2 hours. Most places also allow for half entrees to be made, so if you have a small family, you can create smaller meals. I have only been to Super Suppers, their menu items are created and tested in the Culinary school, that is owned the the creator of Super Suppers. Many of the meal assembly places will prepare the meals for you for an addition fee ( often 2- 3 dollars/per entree) or some have freezer, which you can stop by on the way home and purchase grab and go meals. It is being sold as the anser to whats for dinner, and a way to get familys back to eating together. So far out of the 4 meals we have tried, only one ( a meatloaf) was below what we expected. In this case it was because they used a higher fat meat then what we normally use. ~Peace
