George Washington
I found this interesting. The pictures we've seen of George Washington have been wrong...he was actually a good looking man.

He looks really sophisticated in that picture.

Well remember that reconstruction was what he supposed to have appeared like as a nineteen year old surveyor.
Most of the paintings or sculptures I think were of the older Washington when he had lost most of his teeth and his jaw is no longer so strong..of course he used "false teeth" which they now think were taken from actual teeth from the dead...atleast as I recall... There was a series on Washingtoin on the History Channel recently. I think the Revolutionary War was successful largely because of the Scotish and Irish colonials and indentured servants and such who were already anti King George who was considered more of a German. The Battle of Culloden on 16 April 1746 and the defeat of the Jacobites led many of them to emigrate. - Art

Yeah, I did some research on ol' George, and it seems that he was a very lousy military man, and lost far more battles than he ever won. BUT he was a very dynamic statesman and speaker, and had the ability to rally his men to him, which is invaluable in war.
