Angry Being Robbed & Feeling Violated

This last sunday October 29th i was down with flu & fever, my sisters needed to get some stuff from the Sunday Bazaar ( It is a huge wonderful open market ),
i volunteered to help as their driver was on holiday .

We ventured out in the evening .
Around 7 pm when we came out of the bazaar & reached my Honda Civic (which was parked in a very busy parking space) we discovered to our horror the rear window was smashed & the Kenwood 10 CD Player was stolen.

I felt a strange sense of violation..... this being the car where me & my kids have shared so many private moments together, felt so close to each other, actually kind of our second home.

I still am in a bit of a shock to think some one invaded our privacy.
I feel its not just the loss of money but the whole experience was very very distressing.

In Pakistan one needs to stay way clear away from the POLICE , both men & women. Its worse for the females to encounter the Police. No decent female goes to the Police station, they are worse then the criminals . Chances are one can be raped or gang raped or stalked by the Police.

The Police Station was in complete wilderness, pitch dark out on the road no signs or indications where it was ,i just had a faint clue .
Me & my sisters were petrified as it was Pitch dark & we could be robbed, raped or killed or even all 3 together.
Finally reached the place with a prayer on my lips , invoked the help of Allah.

Me & my sisters do not wear a veil or hijab but wear a big Dupatta( a huge scarf) always .
We three covered our heads and our bodies with the huge dupatta & i need to tell you something ,it did save us from getting unwanted glances and sleazy looks.

Thanks to Allah the Station House officer was very very respectful to us.... i think that was all we needed at that time , for some one to
respect us and treat us as humans.

Moral of the story :

Allah helped us to be safe from further sufferings & ordeals and gave us the strength to be calm & patient through this nightmare.

In this part of the world culturally, it is very important for the female to lower the gaze & cover the head if one wants respect & stay away from being harrassed.

In his next life may The Good Lord Bless Jack Straw by creating him as a female in Pakistan

That must have been a frightening experience and I can understand the feeling of being violated.

I was wondering why there are any police if they are worse than criminals.

I am thankful you suffered no further indignities. Your story reminds me of the day I walked to the parking lot at the end of the workday to find an empty spot where my car had been. To add insult to injury I later received a ticket for parking illegally after the thieves abandoned the car.

Can't seem to trust the cops in many places. Seems like too many are corrupt or prejudice or something. I'm glad you managed to make it back home safely, it's sick when you have to worry more about cops than the thugs on the street.

The worst police in Pakistan is The Karachi Police.

People here dread the Police more then the criminals , We believe the criminals will just take the stuff and leave but the Police does not let go.

First of all they take bribes to register a First Information Report (FIR) . Without a bribe a case or complaint is not registered and the bribe money is to be determined according to the intensity of the crime.
If the crime is grave the victim needs to pay huge amounts.

Once when one goes to the Police Station they start harassing & stalking the person for the rest of your life.

At times when people do not bribe the police they put drugs or weapons in the persons belongings to falsely implicate the innocents.

All the drug , gambling & prostitution dens are run by the Police starting from top to bottom.
They can barge into any ones home and beat them, abduct them , rape & molest them, damage & steal their property.

The people who join the police force only get a job for any rank after paying a bribe of $ 2000 or more .The higher the rank the greater the bribe.

Can you see why people are so frustrated here , its the law that turns some people into criminals & terrorists , these oppressed & frustrated people just get fed up of the system and go ballistic towards all.

99% of the times criminals are let lose by the police after taking bribes.

Our lives are suffocating .

I'm so sorry you have to go through this. Have the people ever formed vigilante groups and rebel against the police?
