Vote

How many of you (in the US) are planning on voting today? If not, why not?

Redbird Cast your ballot!

In the past few years my son and I vote absentee... He's disabled so we sit down together and discuss what he wants to vote for... I read the ballot to him and we mark it. Interestingly he almost always will disagree with me on the offices...so he will vote right and I usually vote more left... We pretty much cancell out each other's votes, except when it comes to the propositions..and there we generally agree. My son has problems with voting booths and following directions. Last time we went to the polls to vote he couldn't handle it.. Anyway I think everyone should vote!

I would be out at the polls, however the problems I face is that I'm uncertain that I have to register again in Maine, and who are all the politicians here. If I was back in PA I'd have an easier time learning about everyone and am already registered. If this was presidential elections I wouldn't feel as uncertain about this.

Can't you go to your local county clerks office to find this out? They are busy, but usually have extra staff at this time of year for exactly this reason.

Regardless of the fact that our system has deteriorated to the equivalent of choosing who's the smartest bear in the zoo, I voted today. And to quote that great American philosopher William Claude Dukenfield (aka W.C. Fields), "I never vote for; I always vote against!"

This time around, I voted against every ballot issue which would have committed future generations of Californians to paying higher taxes to pay off revenue bonds. I personally cannot spend more than I earn without running into trouble, and I'l be ****ed if I'll let my government do it.

Aw crud! Was that today?

How are you supposed to find this stuff out? Aren't we supposed to get stuff in the mail or something? I never got anything on measures or offices or anything. I remember my parents used to get stuff in the mail - I've never gotten anything

You should have rec'd a voter pamphlet if you are registered. But note that voting is still open in a lot of places, and will be for awhile yet.

Yeh I was going to say if Panth never registered then he might not be on the rolls...so Panth better register at least for the next election... I have another son who doesn't want to vote and he's too old for me to force him so what the hey...maybe his mother can coerce him...
