Legalize nudity?

What do you suppose would happen if they legalized nudity? Do you think crime rates would increase? Decrease? Change at all?

Most people are rather surprised to find out that in most areas of the country and other countries where nudity is legal (nude beaches, resorts, "skinny dipping" places, the French Riviera, etc), the general crime rates are lower, especially for sexual crimes. In fact, here locally, the lowest crime rate for the city for the last 5 years has occurred in the 12 block radius around the only topless bar in town. Do you think that all of this is just coincidence? Or do you think that by removing the 'taboo' and making it more commonplace, people just naturally lose interest?

I don't think the two are in any way related.

However i still don't think being nude in public is very polite.

Nowadays I think there's not much left to remove to make nudism that attractive... We have Nude Ranch not too far from where I live...about ten miles away. They used to hold Nude Olympics there for awhile. I never heard about a lower crime rate in the area attributed to nudism.

I think in time the excitement wears off.

Sexual crimes might lower because many nude bodies are not that attractive. It's probably a turn off.

To be honest i don't think sexual crimes are related to sexual desires, it's more related to rage and inner anger. It's like when you're so mad at some dude you want to punch them in the face, and when you're so mad at a woman you want to rape her, just to hurt her.

Sorry if that was offending, but i'm just trying to get inside a rapist's head.

I suspect the result would be that the people you most wanted to see naked would keep their clothes, and the people that actually went naked would be the ones you'd rather had kept their clothes on...

To me, it really doesn't matter. I don't think the crime rate would increase or decrease in relation to allowing nudity. There are not too many bodies out there that look like the airbrushed playboy bunnies, Naked people -- I'll pass.
