Misidentified

I thought misidentified would be a better term than mistaken. So how many times has someone (who really hasn’t taken the proper opportunities to get to know you better) misidentified you as belonging to a particular race, ethnicity, religion, celebrity or lifestyle?

I get it with my last name of Lee, many people think Bruce Lee and therefore I am asian, and this is just by reading my name on paper. Then they meet a 6' Irish/Native woman. Hahahaha.

Having an androgynous first name (Robin), I can't go into certain chat rooms without some hormone-crazed teenage boy asking me what I'm wearing. When I respond "sneakers and a jock-strap," I generally get left alone.

And neither my beard nor my long hair give any insight to my political leanings.

The fact that I generally dress in jeans and work shirts is a reflection of what I find comfortable, not the fact that I spent most of my formative years in Texas.

I drive a truck because it's practical, not because of any image it may convey.

Finally, although I could sit down with you and explain many esoteric computer-related things to you in plain and simple English, and could also explain just what an operating system is--without using a single syllable of technobabble--doesn't mean I'm a geek, either.

I am usually mis-identified as a mean and less than human being simply because of either my tattoos or my religion.
I am also usually mis-identified by the same people as someone who gives a ****.

One thing I have found extremely interesting is how some people react to forum admin. Some people project their own selves onto admin. I've had people tell me what they think I am and they aren't even close. When people make "you" statements they are usually telling you about themselves.

I always think of "forum admin" as the "law inforcer" and the one who deserves the greatest and upmost respect. This is true in the recesses of my mind.

Maybe only if you have a sense of humor.

Miss.L is on a distinguished road
I've had people make "you" statements about me that just weren't true and it hurts me inside when people do this to me. I also think that some people assume things about you because they have guilty consciences.
