For some reason I don't find a true connection. I don't know enough about him or what he believes or teaches to ask specific questions. His answers are based on love, but I wish he would quote less and speak more from a personal perspective. I find it also easier to learn when I am given examples of personal experiences that I can relate to.

I will ask him to give us a more personal perspective.
I have to say, though, that I have found the interview profoundly beautiful. For him it's an inner journey. I have been connected to him, his book and his message from day one. I think he has given us his personal interpretation of the Qur'an and Rumi's message.

The reason that i prefer to read of other people's insights into/knowledge gained from a religion/spiritual path is that they see things differently to myself, and can read alternative interpretations from the text, maybe gain deeper insights from it, simply because the texts are a 'fixed' belief in that they teach the same thing to all, but the thing which i feel is important is individual understanding, and we can come best to that by reading the texts for ourselves and deciding what message they give to us, but also by reading what insights and concepts others got from them, which may well be very different from our own - if we are at a level to comprehend them, that is.

I see what you are saying. I thought the entire interview was his insights. He showed us an Islam that was very refreshing and quite different from what we frequently hear. He is very busy and if he has time we may get a further reply from him.

We are all richer from his sharing of the Islam we need to know more about. The extremists of every faith never represent it's teachings only their agendas. It's an excellent interview L.K., thank you. I too hope he finds the time to continue and contribute more to our understanding.
