I "treat" myself regularly with time and flowers. In "me" time I read, post on this forum, paint, or take a long bath.
But more than treating my self I find it important to respect my self, have compassion with my self and love my self unconditionally. That means not to beat my self up, if I feel I made a "mistake" or I forgot to do something. The feelings of guilt and shame are attacks directed toward ourselves. To truly "treat" one self is not so much that we need to do something for ourselves, but that we stop what we are doing to our self. I don't think "treating" one's self is selfish. You can only share from a full cup. If your own cup is empty, you have nothing to share.

I believe that we should treat ourselves often. If we waited for someone else to notice that we deserve to be treated, we could wait for a lifetime.
I like to take a walk in the woods, have some chocolate, go swimming (when weather allows), read, write, or just take a nap. Depending on what I feel like doing when I have time to treat myself will depend on what I do. I also enjoy shopping, but that takes money, and I don't do that often.

I love surfing the net and messing around on the computer. I've made alot of DVD's on MovieMaker. I also enjoy singing.
Shopping is a treat, also food, since I normally limit myself in those areas. The same goes for gardening (and even cleaning)..... I love taking the time to simply work on/around the house. It's theraputic after painting all day. |
