This one I like!! Many years ago I had a freind who would talk to trees and each one would represent someone in his life. He would describe characteristics of the person and the tree that fit...it was wonderful and interesting... I personally see much the same about a person and a tree. As a metaphor a tree symbolizes growth and blooming and forming a firm root and being strong... and soaking in energy and light to make us stronger. As we grow we shelter others as we become stronger and deep rooted in what is inporatant and have gotten the nourishment (nutritionally and spiritually) that we require for our growth. We also go through stages in our physical life which is similar to the spring, summer, winter and fall of a tree. There are many seasons in our life and many changes and after each we should grow stronger and grow firmer and more resiliant like the great oak..unless we let the disease (dis- ease) of the change take us over. This was a very good posting LK!!!

I have met quite a few people who were not rooted at all. And others who have no reach.... sad, really.

A friend of mine who studied psychology asked me this question several years ago. My answer was that humans and trees, we both living entities.
She gave me a strange look and never told me what the best answers were.

I would say
Both are living things and both live for many years, enduring years and storms, flood and fire as well as they may.
I believe both have souls (and no, I cannot prove it; it's a belief purely and simply).
