i thought about this question for a couple of days before responding. It occurred to me, that usual feeling of not being able to act on a grand scale may result in discouragement, the need can be seen as overwhelming.....
Well, i can't eliminate world hunger...but support heifer International. Can't eliminate ignorance but support my local library. Can't do away with suffering but listion to my neighbors problems. Have no way of estimating the effectivness of the first two but sure see the affects of the third. One of the great lacks in modern life is having someone who will really listion, someone who will open up all the stops and pay exclusive attention to the sorrow, the hurt, and the confusion. Sometimes there are no answering cures and just allowing the purging brings relief. And sometimes with close observation an answer can be given, but the main service is listioning. These 3 may not be global, but hey, it means something in someone's world. |
