People often miss the point of the box of chocolates
In "Forrest Gump" (the movie much more than the book (which I didn't like)), the box of chocolates is indeed a metaphor for communion; Forrest offers it, freely, to all those who take turns sitting and listening to him. It is a token of his sharing, of his openness and respect for others.
I think chocolate is a good token, especially a cup of hot chocolate shared between the couple.

Since this wedding is taking place at the end of June and it tends to be hot here, they want to feed each other frozen wafers of chocolate. This time of year hot chocolate may be a bit much.
I do like the suggestion though and will pass that on to my winter weddings. Thank you for the idea.
