The Birth of a Humming Bird

This is truly amazing. Be sure to click on NEXT PAGE at the bottom of each page of pictures, there are 5 pages in all.

A lady found a hummingbird nest and got pictures all the way from the egg to leaving the nest. It took 24 days from birth to flight.

Because you'll probably never see this again in your lifetime, enjoy and please share.

Great pictures! It's amazing how small that nest is. Thank you for the link.

Chippingaway has a spectacular aura aboutChippingaway has a spectacular aura aboutChippingaway has a spectacular aura about

such marvelouse little critters.

One of my treasures is a hummingbird nest. it's made of spiderweb and lichen, had to be labor intensive to build. Could maybe fit a nickle into the bottom.

An early fall walk thru the yard and my husband spotted it just overhead in the thickly leaved mullberry branches, no longer being used.

East of the Mississippi river we have only the one species of hummingbird, the rubythroat, they are endlessly entertaining, peering in the windows in thier curiosity and chasing each other ( the males are very pugnaciouse) i heard somewhere the Aztecs considered them as reincarnations of Aztec warriors. (?) These battles over territory can get very fierce, there have been times we feared accidently straining then thru the screen door as a favorite chased and chaser zooming path was right in front of the door.
