Exercise

There seems to be a difference of opinion about how much exercise we should get. Some say we should do 30 minutes of aerobics several days a week. Some say we should just move around and walk several times a week. Which is it?

I don't get anywhere near enough exercise.

But a doctor told me once that the idea was to make your heart really work, however long it too, and that time wasn't as important as doing that. I find that treading water is a pretty good exercise, but like I said, I don't get enough of ANY kind of exercise.

I do believe that just being active a few hours a day is good enough. My dad and I go for walks every chance we get and I'm always playing with the cats around the house. ^_^ (We have three new baby kittens so they're a handfull.) I try to exercise but I'm not going to go jogging or power walking for 30 minutes every morning. It seems to regulated or scheduled to my taste. Then again, I'm not the most healthiest gal in the world. lol

I try to walk for at least an hour a day. One reason for moving around that way is that all doctors agree that my amazing recovery after my stroke was due to my running around with my fiancée's Irish Setter several times a day for a couple of years.

Well Done on your recovery....pat yourself on your back.

I've heard 20 minutes a dya of vigorous walking is good exercise, as long as it speeds the old ticker up !!..however, the best all round exercise is definitely swimming...you use all the muscles.....I myself take my kids swimming every week and it is indeed good exercise to see them swim from the gallery ...besides...just typing here is good for your fingertips I confirm that I have healthy fingertips !!..well, two anyway .....

In all seriousnous (I'm trying) I used to be a very keen athlete but then ...well...life happenned...left school, got a job, found wifey and made some kiddies. I'm actually quite ashamed at how I;ve let myself go......

I even bought myself a proper top nosh treadmill for my 40th, it folds up and is the most expensive coat stand I have ever purchased !!....*sigh ho hum*

You should publish these stories. A good exercise would be to write a book on your experience of fatherhood with this bit about the treadmill in it. I would buy the book in a minute.

It all depends on your body. Some people may not be able to exercise for more than 10 minutes a day without hurting themselves. While others can exercise intensively for more than 5 hours a day and feel nothing. The key to exercise is this...

Sweat, sweat, sweat!! If you're sore the next day, you did something right.

Hey MV, can you recommend a good Chi gung exercise to remedy back spasms?

Peace

Mark
