California Dreaming

One thing I've been aware of regarding depression/anxiety, it can be worse at certain times of the year. I always have trouble adjusting from Summer to Autumn, and although I have anxiety as a constant companion, it does seem worse at the moment.

Now, at this time of year, very unsettled as I have become, I have a yearning for the Sun and the Sea. If any enviroment was helpful to the human condition, for me it would be living on the ocean front in California, I don't think Northern climates are good for general well being.

Does abybody else feel the same way, and if any members live in Cali, is it as good as I think it might be ?

Cheers

Ian,
It may be a possibility that you suffer from SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder)....your body may well require winter sun

I quote ....."As seasons change, there is a shift in our “biological internal clocks” or circadian rhythm, due partly to these changes in sunlight patterns. This can cause our biological clocks to be out of “step” with our daily schedules."............Have you ever considered this ?

Vitamin D is essential this time of year and getting out to get as much sunlight as possible will help you. failing that, there are ' light boxes ' which will help you immensely...there is a lot of info on the web about it.

Of course, if you're not SAD then forget what I just said...BUT, I have this yearning for the sea too....I so want to live there.

The good thing about being here in the UK is that we are never more than 72 miles from the coast....which is nice !!

You can also get special lighting with a timer that simulates sunrise. I think it's important to keep your house well lit in the winter.

I haven't seen that sunrise lighting here, but I'll check it out. The more light the better I say.

Cheers
