I recommend Dr. Weils for suggestions on your blood sugar. I am not sure if you would be able to come of insulin injections once you have come that far.
Here are two sites for you to check out. Read up more on the lower affects on your blood sugar with blueberries. http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/id/ART00682 Hope this helps. About Andrew Weil, M.D. Andrew Weil, M.D., has devoted the past thirty years to developing, practicing, and teaching others about the principles of integrative medicine. Dr. Weil combines a Harvard education and a lifetime of practicing natural and preventive medicine to provide a unique approach to health care which encompasses body, mind, and spirit. Good Luck

In regard to the last question, it isn't very common, but it has been known to happen. It is like any major illness, like cancer...sometimes when it is "incurable", our bodies recover anyway. For the first question, the idea is to cut out the "bad" carbs and increase the good ones. Processed foods are very bad...this includes packaged foods, macaroni, spaghetti noodles, and the like. The good carbs are those found in fresh fruits and veggies...canned usually isn't nearly as good because of the additives. If you can do it, can your own when veggies and fruits are less expensive. The reason for all of this is that complex sugars and starches are hard for the body to break down (this is true for anyone, not just diabetics). Sometimes our bodies don't produce the right enzymes to break those sugars and starches down. Insulin is only one of those enzymes, but it is an important one. Simple sugar (like fructose) on the other hand, is easily broken down by the body, with a very little difficulty. Those sugars are metabolized easily. The result is that the diabetes, though still there, is not as great a concern. Increasing proteins in the diet can help, too, especially very lean meats (like venison) and fish. Your concerns are not limited to blood sugar level, either, so make sure that you are getting all the vitamins and minerals you need to be healthy. AND it wouldn't hurt to start a thread in prayer requests. Prayer can achieve things that cannot be easily explained. |

Diabetes
Rev Rex has hit the nail on the head for you.
Do not eat any fried foods it will increase your sugar level. Stick to baked foods or broiled. Stick to fish and chicken and vegetables. Limit your intake to one or two pieces of bread daily. Very limited amount of milk daily. All diet drinks only. Artificial sweetners Watch your cereals and look at the sugar amount.. I stick with rice chex or a rolled oat cereal which is a generic of a oat cereal Artificial spray butter no eggs just egg substitutes no mayo, or ketchup<lots of sugar> No french fries Little or no cheese Unfortunately no buttered popcorn Use crystal light drinks No mash potatoes<its a killer on blood sugars> Salads, fish<broiled>, or chicken, and sorry no mexican food restaurants. Chinese foods from the chinese restaurants are a no no<orry>, it will raise it <sugar levels heavily> Soups are ok..some.... revpo<diabetic for 18 plus years type 11, pills, insulin and crossed fingers> |

You gave me some good info... We seem to be fried food lovers around here, and eggs are another love for us. We can do it, though, we just need to use our will power and stop acting like we don't have it. My husbands a type II diabetic as well. He's also the cook. Fortunately, he love Chicken and fish and his high blood pressure has gotten him in the habit of baking his food and never fring. We drink a lot of cool aid and sugar is like gold, around here, so we have to use it sparingly... Thanks for your advice, I really appreciate it. ![]()

One thing that is worth adding...our society is becoming much more aware of the problem with diabetes. Because of that, there are more and more foods out there specifically for diabetics, including substitutes (like egg substitutes). AND contrary to popular belief, a diabetic need not resolve themselves to a future of eating bland tasteless foods. There ARE ways to make it tasty. I don't HAVE to eat diabetic foods, but some of it is quite good, especially when using herbs, which do little more than just flavor the food.

Look up diabetes on her chart here http://www.geocities.com/angelscmj/heal/c.html and it will have a one line affirmation that I recommend you might say it at least a few times a day. I doubted its effectiveness, till one day I had a problem I struggled with healing, and someone gave me her book, and I prayed on the issues she recommended with the affirmation she suggested (with it a bit personalized to my situation) and in three days I was healed. I was very happy, that I did not need the operation it looked like was going to be inevitable. I also recommend this site http://positivepause.com/ to everyone to just center one's self. It takes about two minutes for a most rewarding experience, IMO. I'm sure you're on your way to recovery Shy Lady, and will be arriving there sooner than you had expected. ![]() |

Dear Amanda,
I too have used Louis Hay with great success. I have raised my children without anitbiotics, simply by going back to the original thought. Thanks for sharing positivepause. That was beautiful.
