free radical are elements and compounds that have an unpaired electron. elements and compounds, like most things in life, want to be stable. once it's electrons are paired, theyre usually in a lower energy state, happy like a married coupld so-to-speak. if the element or compound has an unpaired electron, that means it's charged and its energy can effect other compounds. it's like the single homewrecker that ruins a marriage and causes all sort of chaos. when free radicals react with DNA, it causes a chain reaction that can lead to cancer.
antioxidants eliminate the chain reactions. green tea is said to be a good source of antioxidants.

I managed a health food store for 7 years. This is what I know about green tea. It is an antioxidant. It has anti viral and antibacterial properties. It protects against cancer, high cholesteral, and helps reduce clotting of the blood. It is suppose to help with blood sugar levels, insulin levels and is good for weight loss. It may help prevent enlarged prostate and is good for asthma. I don't know a lot about white tea but supposedly it is even better for you than green tea.

There are many foods naturally rich in iron. Some of these are black-strap molasses, apples, apricots, asparagus, bananas, broccoli, egg yolks, kelp, leafy vegetables, okra, parsley, plums, prunes, purple grapes, raisins, turnip greens, kidney beans, pinto beans and yams...thats just a few! Also eating foods high in vitamin c will help your body to absorb the vitamin c you get from eating the foods rich in iron. Some things interfere with iron absorption , those are almonds, cashews, chocolate, kale, rhubarb, pop (soda), spinach, swiss chard, most nuts or beans so they should be eaten only in moderation. It is also recommended that you avoid coffee and tea (tea has something called tannins in it which will affect iron absorption) because they can interfere with iron absorption. Do not eat foods high in fiber at the same time you eat foods high in iron because the fiber will be absorbed into the fiber and be removed as waste. I have also heard that taking a vitamin B supplement with extra vitamin B 12 will help. Hope this is helpful
