What do you think of the hypothesis that (not to stomp on any toes) the Muslim religion is going to sweep through Europe, causing commonplace things such as women dressing as they want, and men not being allowed to heckle them for it.

I know this is not is not race related, but Muslim practices are definitely associated more closely to some ethnicities than others, much like Buddhism and Christianity. However, a tolerant society such as Europe is known to be, may be suppressed as these peoples leave their native lands due to war and move into Europe.

I don't know

I don't really understand the question.
I think I'd like to be a good Christian, but I'm already confused enough, what with meditation class and so on and so forth, so personally I don't mind if Islam sweeps across Europe because Muslims are generally very tolerant, and so is everyone else nowadays.
Whatever it has to do with Native Americans being a lost Tribe of Israel, I think I'd be better placed to provide a coherent answer if I hadn't overindulged on being awake.
I confess, I had a beer and then 2 coffees, and I should be asleep upstairs.

No Native Americans are not. They aren't even the same race as Jews. Jews came from Israel and Native Americans came from the lost city of Atlantis. So, they are more like the lost tribes of Atlantis.

According to comparative d.n.a. and language comparisons (glottochronology), Indians came originally from southeast Asia and the Inuit came from the Mongolia and Siberia area.

The country most likely to feel the change in Europe first is France, which has a 10% Muslem population now, but the estimate is that they may form the majority as early as 2050. It will be interesting because the non-Muslem French are very secular but the Muslem population tends to quite observant. This can create quite a bit of friction, which the French are already feeling. The Jewish community especially is afraid and many are no longer wearing any religious garb in public and many have been leaving the country.

Wouldn't (if Natives were the lost tribe) people from Siberia, Mongolia, and South East Asia ultimately be from Mesopotamia like everyone else?

As for Atlantis...well...uh...yeah. Find me some scientific fact on that one first.

As for Muslims being historically tolerant...Something about Gay's and Women's rights comes to mind.

According to Spencer Wells, Director of the Genographic project, in his book Deep Ancestry, Inside the Genographic Project, the ancestor of Native Americans, Q arose some 15,000 to 20,000 years ago in Siberia. His ancestor P moved from the Middle East to Central Asia about 45,000 years ago. In Central Asia, P and his descendants lived north of the Hindukush in the steppe, a region today known as Uzbekestan, Kazakhstan and Southern Siberia. By the way, P is also the ancestor of most Europeans- father of the Eurasian Clan. So it could be said, that most European men, paternally speaking, are more closely related to Native Americans than Jews.

The Ancestor of P who lived in the Middle East more than 45,000 years ago, known as M89 also had children that did not go to Central Asia but stayed in the middle East. The Jewish population in Europe, North Africa and Middle East of today is essentially the descendant of one of them, known as J. So, J was someone whose ancestors continued to live in the Middle East, 30,000 years after P moved to Central Asia. The absence of J's children in Native Americans and most Europeans, essentially means their ancestors left the Middle East before the common male ancestor of the Jews was born.

Thanks for providing this information and I'll have to put that book on my "Must Read" list. The October issue of Scientific American has some information on that project, but not in the detail you just posted.

I think problems could occur, especially if Islamists migrate in large enough numbers for first and second generations to become a majority in a European country. From my observation of history, when people of a different religion and culture migrate in large numbers, violent friction between the two populations can be expected. I have yet to see an example in history where this did not occur. So, I doubt Europe would be an exception. For this reason, I do not think it is wise to allow Islamist immigrants to form more than about 10% of the population in any European country with a Christian history. Once about 10% are taken in, I believe the country should restrict immigration and allow time for about four generations to assimilate before the next sequence of immigrants can enter.

metis, I have not had a chance to look at the Scientific American article yet. However, thanks for the tip, I will be trying to get my hands on it ASAP. I enjoy reading about new discoveries in this field. I am also a participant in Wells' project.

If you are interested in reading more about the field, I would also recommend Wells' earlier book, 'The Journey of Man- A genetic Odyssey'. He does a great job of explaining what the markers are and how and why they are useful to population geneticists. Another book that I found interesting was 'Abraham's Children- Race, Identity and the DNA of the Chosen People' by Jon Entine. Jon is Jewish and a columnist, but not a geneticist. As such, his book is easy to read and addresses the issue of identifying the Lost Tribes with good insight. However, he glosses over some scientific details, in my opinion.

regards,

bob
