I hope Jewscout doesnot mind but let me mention the difference between the States and Isreal in terms of culture. No doubt Isreal is a Jewish State and its population is Jewish but they also have a small town which is inhabited by Isreali muslims and they even have mosques there. Isreal is a State having Hebrew as a national and official language and you can say that Arabic is the 2nd language there and if you visit Isreal you will see several sign boards there written in both Arabic and Hebrew. English is not widely spoken in Isreal and just like Arabs they have problem with there English. It is a country where you will find Jews from different countries eg. Arab Jews,African Jews,European Jews,Russian Jews and Indian and Pakistani Jews) and they all live under the roof called "Isreal". Isreal is a State which actually claims to represent all Jews of the world although there are several Jews including rabbis and common jewish people who donot like Isreal. They have cultural, genetical and historical connections with Arabs especially Palestinians. Palestinians and Jews inspite of having same root and common ansasters have fought with each other over the piece of land where you see Isreal and Palestine. They eat same food as arabs do like humas and shwarma. These are some of the facts about Isreal. |

that is true, though more an more these groups, such as the Satmars, are becoming a smaller and smaller minority in the jewish world. and of course, trips to Tehran don't help either. Quote:
there are many many places where Arab muslims live here in Israel, and for the most part they get along fine here. There are many problems and issues of civil rights here but there are many other cultural factors going on that create conflict both between Jews and Arabs and also within arab society itself here in israel. Quote:
actually they are both official state languages, with russian and english coming in a close 3rd and 4th. Quote:
actually this is not accurate. The study that you are referring to did a comparitive study of the genetic background of Jews and arab-palestinians vs. people from Wales, so naturally they would show a closer genetic connection. In actuallity Jews, not matter where they are from, show a closer genetic connection to each other than the population around them, and we are closer genetically to Kurds and Armenians, as they were people who were indigenous to the upper fertile crescent, unlike the Arab Palestinians who originated from the Arabian peninsula when Islam came out centuries ago. here is an article about this exact thing: Genetics and the Jewish identity | Jerusalem Post Quote:
this is something i love about living here. People seem to get this idea that Israel is like a mini-europe, when it is everyday more and more culturally like it's arab neighbors. In fact one of the major parties in Israeli politics is Shas, a religious sephardic (meaning jews of the arab/north african/spanish world) party which has as one of it's points to encourage all jews in Israel to adopt more sephardic, and in their opinion "authentic", jewish tradition and custom.

Thanks for sharing the article, I was just reading this article and it says that the desendants of Araon(pbuh) who was actually the brother of Moses(pbuh) should constitute the priesthood of Jews. Actually the author of the article is talking about the Priesthood not the linage . But the question is that what is the linage of Jews ansasters? Abraham(pbuh) was the father of both Isaac(pbuh) and Ismail(pbuh) and Isaac(pbuh) gave birth to Jacob who was nick named as "Isreal" and Jacob become the father of all the Jews. Majority of the Prophets and Messengers ,example Joseph,Moses,Jesus and others came from the linage of Isaac(pbuh) and these Prophets were actually sent by God to guide the Jews. Ismail(pbuh) became the father of Arabs and Arabs existed even before the arrival of Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) and the Quraish(polytheists) of Makkah were all Arabs. |
