Who Is God?

Quote:
Islam is a monotheistic religion, meaning that Muslims believe in one God, who is unlimited and self-sufficient. In fact, belief in God as the only deity worthy of worship is the central teaching of Islam. God provides guidance, and shows humankind the way it should go to fulfill its role in God’s perfectly ordered creation. God is the creator, and all creation relies on God for its existence. God is the source of order in the universe, and will bring those who follow God’s will to heaven.

Well, well, well....

I'm sure they do. I would observe that it isn't, perhaps, necessary for your god to be such a vast and unimaginable deity. IN fact, perhaps that isn;t such a good thing.

In fact, belief in God as the only deity worthy of worship is the central teaching of Islam. God provides guidance, and shows humankind the way it should go to fulfill its role in God’s perfectly ordered creation.

A leap of logic, or faith, perhaps, I just cannot make. I like my deities much closer to me, lest of the omnipotence, omnisiciens, omnipresence, etc. I cannot imagine that my worship of such an entity makes one iota of difference, either to Him or to me.

A god of such dimensions can scarecly be imagined to create a hell as a final destination for the petty humans who do not acknoweledge Him -- no matter what the cause of that failure. It's about as silly as the real police arresting children who are playing "robbers" in a game of cops and robbers.

And I cannot turn to such a deity for help or succor or support or guidance; if the entire universe is under the purview of a signle god, then why should He ever heed me or acknowledge me? In what way can I be important enough to attract His attention?

Quote:
God is the creator, and all creation relies on God for its existence. God is the source of order in the universe, and will bring those who follow God’s will to heaven.

But if Allah has created us all, and if we rely on Him for existnce, then how will we continue to exist, for an eternity of punishment, when we are utterly cut off from his care or concern? It just doesn't make any sense for me....

(BTW I have read the Koran, in trnslation, several times. I acknowledge the power of certain parts of it but, no, it doesn't convince me. Any more than the Bible convinces me. I just find the theology of montheism too self-contradictory to work.)

"Be seeing you..."

It depends upon one's concept of "God".

spiritual78 will become famous soon enough
how do i understand monotheism is simple , there is one God and He is singlehandedly running the entire universe , if there were two or more Gods they would never had agreed upon many a things and there would have been chaos in the universe , but since they day i was born and every day i see the night following the day and the day following the night , the four seasons following each other in the same order , the moon in its orbit around the earth and the planets in their orbits around the sun , if more than one god had been there some time he may have wanted to contradict with this monotonous pattern but no it hasnt happened as yet ,means no one interferes in Gods decisions
there is and will be one God wether we believe or not , wether we like or not

in this huge universe of millions and trillions of people why would God look at me and why would He care for me .... life has given me the answers itself
the children i have given birth to will always be my children wether i have one or many and i know and understand their personalities and needs in my own way .How can God who created us not know us , not know what we r doing , wether we r being good and bad .my child who is gentle and caring , and listens to my advice is more dear to me than the onewho is not , although i love them both one really has to go over thier limit before i think of punishing them ..... i think its the same God loves us all , but those who believe in Him and are obedient to Him are dearer to Him and we have to cross our limits before we are doomedto an eternity of hell

may peace be on all of you

One God and spiritualism

I guess it is written both in the Bible and the Quran that God will never be comprehended completely by mankind. As for the monotheistic. I do think that there is only one God worthy of worship, but that does not mean that there aren't any spirits such as angels and demons. I guess the danger of worshipping them (the demons that is) is that they might guide you away from the One God.

The danger with One God is that the intepretations of the Laws and Traditions from the time of Abraham are already devided into three main religions with many subdenominations.

It is curious that the Quran mentions the same persons and angels. It was the Angel Gabriel who descended and realized the Holy Immaculation of the Virgen Maria. What I don't understand is that is was appearantly this same Angel who told Mohammad that this Immaculation was not true?

Hi Roel and welcome to this forum : )

I have a question to your post: Why do you believe that a demon could/would lead you away from God, but not angels?
