Last sermon of Prophet Muhammad(pbuh)

Prophet’s Last Khutba(Sermon)

The Last Prophet of Allah said the following words of guidance, addressing the Believers on the occasion of Hajj (pilgrimage):

“O people, listen to me in earnest, worship Allah; say your five daily prayers (Salah); fast during the month of Ramadan; and give your wealth in Zakah; (and) perform Hajj if you can afford to."

“All mankind is from Adam and Eve; an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white man has no superiority over the black man, nor does a black man has any superiority over a white man, except by virtue of piety and good conduct. Know that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves."

I would ask if you can tell me what defines a Muslim according to your scriptures

Can you offer the exact scripture rather than the intepretation of clerics and holy men - There are usually a number of passages which define the complete meaning

I only ask this because i see so much misintepretation in the Bible by Christian Clergy and so suspect its no different with Islam

Many thanks

Interesting..........................

Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Azad Islam and Nationalism
According to him [Azad] the real objectives of the Quran are the following three principles:
"1. It made faith and deed the sole means of salvation, and not affiliation to any particular group.

2. It emphasized the fact that religion revealed by God was but one for all mankind, and that therefore every deviation from this was a clear aberration.

3. It emphasized that real religion was direct worship of but one God without any mediating agency, and that this was the main teaching of all prophets, and that every belief and practice which conflicted with it was was therefore a deviation from it and indeed a denial of it."

. . . Azad developed this principle in his Tarjuman al Quran which is, without any exageration unparalleled in Islamic literature. Unity of Faith is his central idea, but this does not mean that all historical religions as they exist today are true or that there is truth in every religion, . . . but that "All religions as originally delivered are true."

. . . Azad's real contribution consists in clearly defining the difference between Din and law, or Shar'ah. The division of Faith into many religions starts with the identification of these two aspects i.e. Din and Shar'ah. The followers of the different religions tend to forget the real message of the revealed religion, and the law of the practical way is overemphasised. The emphasis is shifted from the 'end' to the 'means'. The Quran in one of the verses, explains the 'raison de etre' of these differences in the laws as an expression of the Divine law itself. It says, "For each we have appointed a divine law and traced out the way. Had Allah willed He could have made you one community. But that He may try you by that which He hath given you He made you as ye are. So vie one with another in good works. Unto Allah ye will all return, and will then inform you of that wherein ye differ" (5/48) Quran accepts the existential differences of human behaviour, and instead of wishing them away it reminds men of different faiths tbat they will all return to God. It is a recurrent theme of the Quran. -- p.50 to 52

Sir, according to Qur'an a "muslim" is the one who submits his will to Allah
and follows the teachings of Qur'an and Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad(pbuh).

Islam is derived from a root word called "salam" which means "peace" and a muslim is the one who acquires peace by submiting his will to Allah(God).

As far as interpretation of Qur'an is concerned, the meaning of the text of Qur'an is the same since its revelation but the reason why you see different interpretation of such text is because of different level of understanding of different scholars.

Let me give you an example, Qur'an is silent on many issues like music or apostasy. Now since Qur'an doesnot talk about such issues ,different scholars will have diffeent opinion regarding it ,some Scholars say music is totally forbidden because in some Hadith,Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) forbided it,but some Scholars allow music to some extent and they also give their reasons from hadith.

But the main and basic teachings of Islam is the same, unlike in Christianity where different sects of Christians have different beliefs on God.
Protestants and Catholics have different understanding of the concept of God.

I hope this helps,

Thank you for your reply

Given your response could it be that a Muslim is one that Walks in Peace - No matter what is thrown at him ?

I am in no way saying I am right - But could it be that meaning ?

Thank you

Nice question Sir, well let me give you an example ,their was a Polytheist lady who use to hate Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) so much that when ever he use to pass by her house to go the mosque, she use to throw garbage on him but he use to continue his walk towards the mosque without even cursing her.

This happened many times, once when Prophet(pbuh) passed by her house ,he found out that she didnot throw any garbage on him,he came to her house to enquire about her and found out she was seriously ill.
When she found out that Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) asked for her health, she was so surprized ,that she came to Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) and embraced Islam.

You can see that we muslims even at the present are facing great difficulties at the airports, immigration and in the Western Countries because we are muslims but still we tolerate it because we know its not in our hand.

Once when Hazrat Ali(Ra) was fighting with an enemy in the battle field, the enemy spitted on Hazrat Ali(ra)'s face, Hazrat Ali(Ra) stepped back and dropped his sword, the enemy said "oh Ali, whats wrong, don't you want to take revenge from me"?

Ali(Ra) replied " I am not hear to fight for my honour or dignity, I am hear to fight for God, and If I attack you in reply, the world will say that Ali(Ra) took his revenge"?

Now what do you expect from such great personalities? What do you think, why do these great pesonalities spreaded the messege of God around the Arabian region and even fought battles? What did they get in return?
Did they get any palace? Wealth or State Power?

No Fahad

They got something greater - they got Everything

This is the point i am making

Retaliation in any form is not of God

Regardless of insults and images we are asked to walk in peace - no exceptions

The scripture you quoted makes it plain that by his teaching the Woman was changed - in the light of truth - not in scripture or in prayer but in teaching only Love and peace and unity

You see, I see the truth in Islam and in Christianity and in all the messages we have been given by all these great men - and the teaching has always been absolute peace in all adversity

When Muslims or Christians are angered by something and react with anger - what do they teach the World and is this the teaching we see above ?

working

Actually it is a religious and emotional attachment with the personalities that causes the followers of that religion to loose temper and react with anger or violance.

Neither God nor the Messengers of God allow such things and this is why we see Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) compromising and showing tolerance at every stage where he found the Qur'aish going against the interest of the muslims.

Qur'aish who were ruling over Makkah were not allowing muslims to make pilgrimage(Hajj) to Makkah but Qur'aish finally decided to allow muslims to do pilgrimage to Makkah and sent some conditions which were mostly against muslims, although the followers and companions of Prophet(pbuh) dissuaded him from accepting such terms and conditions but Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) accepted it.
If He would not have been showing tolerance and patience, then you wouldnot have seen the Islamic rule over Arab and you wouldnot have seen his influence around the major part of the world.
His teachings and actions penetrated the hearts of the people and now his followers are found in many parts of the world, not only in Middle East but in Far East Asia, South East Asia, some parts of Africa and Russia.

You can imagine the deep influence of Muhammad(pbuh) in this world, although Christians and Jews came many many centuries before muslims ,but still muslims are the 2nd largest population in the world after Christians.

I dont see Muslims and Christians or how much of one or another

I see Mankind

As for Islam - I see much truth in its core

Its just a shame we use Christians and Muslims as labels
We are all really the same
