Sayings of Hazrat Ali

Hazrat Ali(Ra)was the husband of Hazrat Fatimah(Ra)the daugther of Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) and he was also the cousin of Prophet Muhammad(pbuh). He was a very knowledgable person of his time and a brave warrior and was titled as "Lion of God" by Prophet Muhammad(pbuh).

Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) has said about him that " I am the city of knowledge and Ali is its gate".

These are some of the sayings of Hazrat Ali(Ra) that I thought that I should share in this forum with others:

•There are people who obey Allah to gain his favours, they act like businessmen. There are people who obey Him to keep themselves free from his wrath, they act as slaves. But there are people who obey Allah out of their sense of gratitude & obligation. They act as gentlemen & noblemen.

• Best deed of a man is to forgive & forget. Only he can forgive who has the power to punish. If you get an opportunity over your enemy, then in thankfulness to Allah, forgive him.

• When few blessing come your way, don't drive them away through thanklessness. It is the tongue of a man which will lead him to hell & it is only the tongue of a man which will lead him to heaven

• Those who give up religion to better their circumstances in life, seldom succeed. The wrath of Allah makes them go through more hardships & losses than their gains. Greed is therefore permanent slavery.

• To fix even a single unlawfully acquired stone in a house is to guarantee to its destruction. This world is not a place of permanent settlement, it is a passage. There are two kinds of people, those who have sold their souls for eternal ****ation & those who have freed themselves from ****ation.

• The sin that makes you sad, repentant & guilty is liked better by Allah than the good deed which makes you vain & conceited.

• Only such a person can establish Divine Rule, who where justice & equity are required will neither feel weak nor deficient & who is not greedy.

• Endurance is of two kinds: When you endure unpleasant things coming your way & when you bear refusal to things pleasuring you.

• When you get ill, do not get nervous over it & try to be as hopeful as possible.

• If you find that somebody is not grateful for all that you have done for him then do not get disappointed because often you will find that someone else feels under your obligation though you have done nothing for him. Thus, your deeds will be compensated & God will reward you for your goodness.

• To come to the relief of the distressed & to help the oppressed acts as expiation amends to many sins.

• Do not be ashamed if the amount of charity is small because to return the beggar empty handed is an act of greater shame. It is up to Allah to decide whether the beggar is genuine or not. Man's duty is to spread his blessings.

• Blessings are for the man who humbles himself before Allah, whose sources of income are honest, whose intentions are honorable, whose character is noble, who controls himself from useless talk, backbiting & acrimonious disposition, who gives his wealth in the cause of Allah, who abstains from tyranny & oppression & who faithfully follows the Divine Path.
