Kaddish

Kaddish is an aramaic prayer recited in the presense of a minyan (a group of 10 jewish men). The most common is the Mourner's Kaddish which is recited with a mourner. Now most would think that this prayer would have to do w/ death or the loved one's memory. But Kaddish, in all it's forms, is a recitation of the belief in HaShem's omnimpotent power.

below is a mourner's kaddish from Jewfaq.org with the transliteration above the english.


Yeetgadal v' yeetkadash sh'mey rabbah (Cong. Amein).
May His great Name grow exalted and sanctified (Cong. Amen.)

B'almah dee v'rah kheer'utey
in the world that He created as He willed.

v' yamleekh malkhutei,b'chahyeykhohn, uv' yohmeykhohn,
